Yes, 10k yellow gold is real gold. The “k” stands for karat, which is a measure of the purity of gold. 10k gold means that the gold is 10 parts out of 24 parts (or approximately 41.7%) pure gold, with the remaining 14 parts being made up of other metals such as copper, silver, and zinc. While 10k gold is not as pure as 18K or 24K, it is still a durable and affordable option for jewellery and other gold products.
The chain length that you should get depends on personal preference, as well as the style of the necklace or pendant you plan to wear with the chain. However, by picking the right length, you should use a measuring tape to determine the circumference of your neck, and whatever your neck measurement is, add 2 to 3 inches to that. We recommended the default length for most females is about 42cm to 45cm that will fit comfortably.
10K gold is generally resistant, does not tarnish easily and is a durable metal. Bringing your gold chain to shower, will generally not cause it to tarnish. However, for all jewellery we generally do not recommend wearing it in the shower. This is because aside from moisture that can cause other elements in a gold alloy (copper, iron) to oxidise slowly over an extended period of time, wearing jewellery in the shower can potentially cause it to be tangled with your hair and makes it a difficult chore to clean up.
