INTERNATIONALLY CERTIFIED

Star Carat Diamonds are graded based on the same criteria as mined diamonds, which is the 4Cs - Cut, Clarity, Colour and Carat.

Each of these characteristics must be considered when choosing a Star Carat Diamond. The cut of a diamond determines its shape and proportion, which then affects how the diamond reflects light. The clarity of a Star Carat Diamond is judged on the number of blemishes or inclusions present. The fewer inclusions, the higher the clarity grade. The colour of a Star Carat Diamond is judged on a scale from D (no hue) to Z (a yellow-hued diamond). A diamond with no hue is rarer and deemed more valuable. Finally, carat is how much a Star Carat Diamond weighs.

Most diamonds are recognised internationally and certified by the International Gemological Institution (IGI). Star Carat Diamonds  are also 3EX (triple excellent) diamonds that have been cut with superior craftsmanship and achieve a grade of Excellence in its proportion, polish and symmetry, with optimum brilliance and scintillation.

Frequently Asked Questions About Star Carat Diamonds

Are synthetic lab grown diamonds real diamonds?

Synthetic lab grown diamonds are real diamonds because the process of growing a mined diamond in the earth’s core is replicated in the lab. This offers you manufactured diamonds with the same chemical, physical and optical properties as mined diamonds; the only difference lies in the origin of the diamond. You’ll be offered the same unrivalled brilliance at a fraction of the cost. Read SK Jewellery’s guide to lab grown diamond rings to find out how they are made.

Why do synthetic lab grown diamonds not undergo discoloration?

Similar to conventional mined diamonds, lab grown diamonds such as the Star Carat Diamond are real diamonds that do not change colour or get cloudy over time. However, to preserve the longevity of its brilliance, it’s best to care for your diamonds every six months using our Jewellery Care Guide.

Some ways to care for your diamonds include storing them separately in fabric-lined bags to reduce possible damage. When cleaning the lab grown diamond, soak in a bowl of warm water mixed with a few drops of gentle soap liquid. Proceed to brush the diamond surface gently with a soft toothbrush and dry with a lint-free cloth.

How do I tell the difference between synthetic lab grown diamonds and naturally mined diamonds?

As mined and lab grown diamonds are physically and chemically the same, they offer the same brilliance; you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between them. Lab grown and mined diamonds share the same colour, inclusions and clarity.

With the same chemical properties, the value of mined and lab grown diamonds are determined by the same 4Cs: cut, colour, clarity and carat. Most lab grown diamonds are certified by IGI (International Gemological Institute) or GIA (The Gemological Institute of America).

What is the difference between a synthetic lab grown diamond, moissanite and cubic zirconia?

Lab grown diamonds are real diamonds with the same crystal structure as mined diamonds. Moissanite and cubic zirconia are not diamonds but diamond simulants.

While they may seem visually similar to diamonds, moissanite and cubic zirconia do not have carbon atoms – they do share the same chemical and physical properties as lab grown diamonds. As such, moissanite and cubic zirconia are considered less valuable than both mined and synthetic lab grown diamonds.

Other than diamonds like Star Carat Diamonds, SK Jewellery also has a wide collection of gold such as 916 gold, 999 gold, white and rose gold as well as jade, pearl, and gemstones jewellery.
